Brandon Day at the Legislature

Hurray to the Brandon Valley Area Chamber of Commerce for setting up the first Brandon Day at the Legislature, which will take place Jan. 31. A group of residents will bus out to Pierre to chat with legislators make the city’s presence known.
It seems like whenever I meet someone from another South Dakota town, the first thing they say about Brandon is, “Boy that town is sure growing, isn’t it?” Yes, it is. Brandon is currently the 12th largest city, by population, in the state. I’ve heard predictions that by 2025, Brandon will be the third largest town. Sioux Falls, Rapid City, then Brandon.
So yes, it’s time the city makes itself known to the Legislature. With as many state residents as we have, and as we’re going to have, it makes sense that the powers that be in Pierre keep us in mind as they make new state law.
At the same time, it behooves Brandon residents to pay attention to what the state Senate and House are up to, because the legislation that is passed will affect a big chunk of the state, which happens to live in Brandon.
