Building a better life

September 13th, 2007 by Alica

What are the top changes you would like to see in Brandon, as we look to the future?

Me, I would like to see a full menu Greek restaurant. The closest one I know of is in Omaha, and that’s too far to drive just for dinner. There are other things I would like also, but let’s hear what you have to say.

    * A city government that is progressive and visionary.

    * A community/activity center that the city DOESN’T expect the school district to build for them.

    How about something simple.

    1. Repave the pathetic entrance to Pioneer Park. The same potholes have existed for years. Make it wide enough for two cars to pass without having one of them drive through a bunker that looks like a WWII bombshell hit it.

    2. Perhaps some of the businesses could follow Taco John’s and True Value by modernizing the look of your business so that it doesn’t look like it did in 1970. You can scream “Buy Brandon” from your roof top (assuming it will hold you), but until you update your business, I have no desire to enter it.

  8. Amanda Says:

    1. Whole foods/natural health store & bakery

    2. Community fitness center with indoor pool - Avera McKennan

    3. Priority to our parks, like Sioux Falls has.

  9. Anonymous Says:

I’d like to see more fast cash pawn shops, more liquor stores, and a gun shop.

  10. Eric Thompson Says:

One of the first improvements that I would like to see is the road leading to the soccer fields at Pioneer Park improved.

  11. Christine Says:

    More sidewalks.

Ability to ride your bike without fear of getting killed.

Stoplights at the intersection of Splitrock and Redwood Blvd.

    Chinese restaurant.

    Cheaper grocery store.

A homeowner’s association for the townhouses at 1500 E Redwood Blvd. Dangerous neighbors could then be evicted.

  12. Brett Bastian Says:

    1. Bike trail to Sioux Falls
    2. Indoor swimming pool with a multigenerational community center
    3. bike trails to connect the east and west sides of Brandon
    4. Perkins
    5. Sidewalks throughout the city
    6. More Parks
    7. A strong voice for the people of Brandon
