Celebrity deaths

Four celebrity deaths have occurred recently. Of those, two were surprises: David Carradine and Michael Jackson. The other two – Ed McMahon and Farrah Fawcett – had been in declining health for some time and were not such big surprises.
I never saw any of them in person, but I watched them all on television over the years. I would have let Ed McMahon come to my house, especially if he was carrying a big Clearinghouse Sweepstakes check. Michael Jackson was a cutie when I first saw him as a child, singing with the Jackson 5. Because of David Carradine, I sometimes still use the term “Grasshopper” when referring to a novice. And I can’t count how many girls in my high school had the Farrah hairdo.
Maybe you have memories of some of these people. Maybe you have had a brush with fame, or saw one of them in concert or on a set.
What memories do you have of any of these famous people?

My goodness, Billy Mays died today. He was 50 also, same age as Michael Jackson.
That sort of scares me, as a 52 year old person.
No word yet on the cause of Billy Mays’ death. It’s just so curious that so many celebrities have died in such a short time frame.
I always wondered why Billy Mays shouted so much. There was no variation in his voice. He just had the one volume - loud.

This has to be the only country that would hold mourning rituals for a washed up pedophile? And when Farah Fawcett get pushed to the side and we hear nothing because its all about the pedophile, that’s disturbing!

And today I learned that Gale Storm, of the old TV show “My Little Margie,” has died. She was 87.
Also Fred Travalena died. He was an impersonator. I used to watch him on the Johnny Carson show. He was 66.

And now Karl Malden has died. He was 97. A few months ago, he and his wife celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. That’s amazing.

I don’t know about you, but I’m not waiting with bated breath to find out where Michael Jackson’s funeral will be held. It escapes me why television news shows would consider incremental coverage on this topic to be relevant.

The same reason “news” was all about Anna Nicole…and Britney Spears. Even CNN has way too much coverage of non-important issues…or the things that should not matter to you & me, but somehow they do.
