Do the schools cause Brandon to grow?

May 23rd, 2007 by colson

This weekend the Brandon Valley school district will send another batch of graduates on their way.
It got me thinking about how much credit the school district can take for the rapid growth that Brandon has experienced.
I have to believe that a lot of people who work in Sioux Falls looked at Brandon and said, “Those schools are a little smaller than Sioux Falls. There’s just one high school for the community to get behind. Maybe my kid is less likely to get lost in a school that size.”
So when they decided to built or buy a new home they chose Brandon as the location.

I think that people get a better diverse education in Sioux Falls and if you look at test scores of the Sioux Falls School district has verses the population they teach. Hands down Sioux Falls has a better education and better teachers

I think that definitely the schools play a role. I graduated from BVHS and I think I got a great eduacation! I actually started elementary in Sioux Falls and when I came to Brandon in 3rd grade I was behind my fellow students. I think the Brandon Valley school district does a much better job and the growth of the city reflects it. Now I have a family of my own and whether we live in town or not, we will be sure to be part of the school district because that’s where I want my kids to get their education.
