Do you know someone who is an everyday hero? The Argus Leader is looking for those special people who inspire us to smile, lend a hand or give back to the community.
To nominate someone, fill out a form at www.argusleader.com or e-mail everydayhero@argusleader.com.
A special section filled with stories of these everyday heroes will be in the Argus in late December.

If it’s “everyday” hero, isn’t that an oxymoron? Heroic acts, by definition, are extrodinary and not merely routine and pedestrian.
I don’t like it.

I get your point. How about if you think of it as a request for “unassuming heroes?” Or possibly for “everyday good examples?”

I think the point is to find ordinary people who do things that are extraordinary. Or perhaps it is people who do heroic things everyday, such as police officers, EMTs (no matter who they work for), or nurses. Alica, I like the title.

When I think of “everyday hero” I think of someone who is always there for people, no matter what, no hesitation, goes
above and beyond even tho it
may throw off their schedule. But, they would never say anything. They may belong to lot’s of organizations, maybe not, but in my mind it’s more the everyday
things they do, that you might
not notice. It is just their nature. It could be a neighbor,
friend or any one.
Just my take.

Where would a person find this so called nomination form at argusleader.com? Not exactly the easiest site to navigate.

Go to www.argusleader.com. You will see a main story at the top of the page. Today, the story is “Cost of good life: $25.5 million.” Under that, there are some other headlines, and under that, there are four headings: Elite 45, HS sports, SD info, and Heroes. Click on Heroes.
I hope this helps.
