Go Lynx!

October 23rd, 2007 by Alica

Brandon Valley led Spearfish 35-0 at halftime in the first round of the playoffs and beat the Spartans 42-21. Looks like a second round is in the Lynx’ future.

What are your thoughts on the first round of playoffs? Did Brandon Valley’s home-field advantage contribute to their win? How do the squad’s chances look going into the second round?

The game against Roosevelt will be tough for the Lynx, but I have faith that the boys will get the job done and bring us one step closer to the state championship game. We will need TONS of Lynx fans at the game Monday night to cheer our team on! GO LYNX!!!

I think if the Lynx beats Roosevelt on Monday they will win the whole thing.

    I agree!!!

We have the ability to win the championship. We must have the confidence to win the championship.

The players have come along way since the first game of the season. We are a very balanced team with many different scoring weapons. We can throw the ball deep or short. We can run the ball to the outside or take it up the middle.

I think with this many different options we have as good of a chance to win the whole title as anyone else.

The remaining games we have to play error free , can not give up easy points and get reasonable field position. If we can achieve some of those results we will continue winning.

I know 8PM is a late time to start a game but it sure would be nice to have a LARGE crowd on Monday. I think a lot of other communities are pulling for BVHS.

Good Luck LYNX !! Practice hard and Monday will be here very soon.

I agree that we have a state championship quality team. If they can beat Roosy it will give them the confidence to know they can beat anyone. My only problem is that this coaching staff hasn’t proven they can win the big games. I felt they should have beat O’G earlier this year but relied to much on the pass even when it was a close game. Just my opinion and I hope we spank the Rough Riders. Go Lynx!!!!!!!

I am excited for the game and I am not even playing. I hope we have a huge turnout for the game. 8PM kickoff !!

We need to do the following to win tonight and the other remaining games:

    1. Penalty free - no dumb personal fouls , holding etc.

    2. No easy / cheap points for the opponent from turnovers. (We will take all they give us.)

    3. MUST convert extra point attempts !!

    4. Win the field position game - be especially aware of Howard Wood wind for tonight’s game.

    5. Confidence - When we scrimmaged roosy this Summer we clearly demonstrated that we can play with them.

The guys must play hard , clean and with BVHS pride. The BEST team will prevail.

Finally, as Boston College showed us this weekend — The game is not over until the game is over!

    Go LYNX !!!!!

WOW !! What a terrible storm we met by the name of Sioux Falls Roosevelt.

They are big , fast and come in platoons. I KNEW that we had our work cutout for us but I am an optimistic person (sales guy in me) who believed we could deliver a victory.

I wish Roosevelt well in the rest of the playoffs. I still hope an ESD team can make it to the finals. We will know soon enough.

The BVHS football team did a GREAT job this year. We have many reasons to be proud of this team. 8-2 season is AWESOME !!

The playoff system is such a hard , abropt finish when you lose. But, boy do you gain personal character building time. Losing is a terrible feeling and luckily only lasts a short period of time.

We had a lot of good senior players who will be greatly missed next year. I hope they enjoy the rest of their senior year.

Next year’s team has the ability to be as good as this years. They have a lot of good returning players who can improve , replace or learn new roles for next season. We already have RB’s , QB , and lineman so Coach Garrow’s coaching team is fortunate to be off to a good start.

Next season actually start TODAY !! The underclassman need to lift weights and train to be ready for next year. Our competition trains all year long in the weight room and senior practices. We must work harder to compete against our competition because of the size our school. We NEED a larger weight room, better training facility and staff supervision(paying staff to supervise) to get these men ready to compete against schools the size of SF.

See you in the stands next year. I will have to move over for the new, upcoming Dads who will enjoy watching their son play football for BVHS !!

Great job team and coaches!! Thanks for the lifetime memories.

    Alica,

If you start a topic on winter sports I would be glad to blog about the wrestling team.

Winter sports are just around the corner.

Cheerleading is competing in BV for ESD on Friday night w/ state competition next weekend in Yankton. Good Luck BVHS Cheer team !!

  10. Todd Neuberger Says:

WE WON THE 1ST STATE AA CHEER COMPETITION this past weekend!!! The girls preformance was awesome. The pyramids stuck, alignments were right on and energy level was high for the whole routine.

This year there were 5 AA teams for the first season. Yankton and Brookings had good solid teams. The LYNX improved throughout the season and finished winning the ESD and State title. Wow, what a year for the 22 + girls on the team.

Coach Gilberts worked the girls hard since the beginning of August. She did a good job of motivating , having them stay focused on the goal and minimizing injures. She has to be proud of her team!!

Finally, the icing to the cake came when the girls were invited to preform at halftime of the AA football game in Vermillion on Saturday night. They did a great job especially since they had been going since 9 AM that morning.

I know us parents are proud of you girls. We had 5 or 6 good seniors who will be missed next season. Good Luck to you Seniors. But, remember to come back to cheer on next year’s team as they via for a REPEAT!!
