Holly businesses

Have you visited businesses on Holly Boulevard as much this summer as usual? It’s more difficult to get to Blaine’s, Stylin’ Bar and the others with the road torn up. Have you looked for a different place to have coffee this summer, or maybe gone without?
Are you looking forward to the road being open again so you can go right back to your favorite chiropracter?
Have you attended any of the construction update meetings, which are held every Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the deli at Sunshine Foods?

I had no idea there were construction update meetings!
I’ve avoided all businesses on Holly due to the construction nightmare except once when I desperately needed my hair cut. The Stylin Bahr really is that good!

I’m darn impressed that I can actually use Holly (most of the way) so soon. A month ago, I would not have given any odds that it would be nearing completion. And yes, I avoided it like the plague this summer.

I continued to use the businesses on Holly Blvd this summer. It may have been a little inconvenient with the detours, but patience was the key. Besides, I’m allways looking for an adventure. I think the new road is wonderful and when it is completed and fully operational (sidewalks), it’s going to be such a wonderful improvement to Brandon. All the new construction along Holly is absolutely beautiful as well — Brandon Lutheran Church, First National Bank, Taco Johns Mall, Sanford Clinic (in progress). We’ve come a long way! I would like to see more drivers follow the 15 mph speed zone during school hours. With the 20 mph speed signs posted, I think people sometimes neglect the 15 mph during school hours (before/after). Progress… progress…. progress.

Are there any plans to install a left turn light at Holly and Sioux Blvd? Cars going north on Sioux Blvd line up to turn left onto Holly / Rice to goto Sioux Falls. A green left turn light would go along way toward reducing traffic congestion.

Yes, there will be a dedicated left-turn arrow for Sioux Boulevard northbound traffic waiting to turn west onto Holly Boulevard/Rice Street.
According to Jim Olsen, project manager, the new street lights are due to be shipped Oct. 21. It will take about a week for them to get here, he said, and then another week or so to get them installed.
The lights at that intersection will still be on a sensor, so that Holly Boulevard will get the most green-light time. Motorists on Sioux Boulevard will trigger a sensor that will change the light to green for them. The sensor detects metal, Olsen said. “Except for bicycles. They don’t have enough metal to trigger it,” he said.
#4 Anonymous, I hope that answers your question. Happy motoring.
