Holly open today

On Saturday, Jim Olsen, project manager for the Holly Boulevard project, said the street would be open sometime Monday, probably later in the day. The project is not done yet, but motorists will be able to drive out of and into town without having to take detours.
Is this great or what? Or if, for some reason, it isn’t great, why not?

Has anyone noticed that noone ever comments on the positive blogs? The hate-monger, no-it-alls who post crap all day long would rather spew their negativity all day long than post a positive comment here!
Yes! It is great to have Holly Blvd open! Thank you to everyone for all of their hard work over the past months who worked in the heat, wind, rain and cold to get the project “almost” done! It looks great!

It’s great that the road is open, and I’ll look forward to seeing the entire project completed.
I know that while work continues on the sides of the street that motorists need to be extra careful about safety. Hence the 20 mph speed limit all along Holly Boulevard. I suspect the speed limit will go back up to its usual 30 mph once everything is done.

Alica - yes the speed limit is 20 all along Holly Blvd — But NOT DURING SCHOOL HOURS — then it is 15 mph. I wish everyone would slow down — You wouldn’t believe the lovely finger gestures I receive for driving the 15 mph before and after school (when children are present). The other day I had a vehicle pass me — Where are the cops during this time of day — they need to be more visible and DO something about the speeders — NOW — BEFORE someone’s child is hurt. Also a reminder that pedestrians have the right of way — people need to stop for the children crossing the street. I know a little child was hit on his bicycle a few weeks ago. I love the new road and think it’s absolutely wonderful — but a new road doesn’t make it safe or not safe — it’s the drivers who use that road. A semi went past today during the time I was picking my children up from the MS — he definitely wasn’t going 15 mph. Come on people — be smart when driving through the school zone — it may just save a life.

I too have had similar circumstances when traveling on Holly Blvd. I expressed my concerns to the Brandon police this morning and they said it was just a matter of time before they start enforcing the 15 mph speed limit in the school zone. I guess patience is the word until then.
