Hometown Days

July 30th, 2013 by Alica

I’ve lived in Brandon since 1964, so I do call Brandon my hometown. Do you?

Will you attend Hometown Days this weekend? Have you attended in the past?

What parts have you enjoyed in the past, and which parts are you looking forward to this year?

I don’t know where to ask this this question….

The city council had a meeting and received the golf course study that was done. All the minutes say is that they heard the report and no action was taken.

Will the report be published for the public to see? I think it’s odd there was no discussion written for the meeting minutes.

    What were the results?

I emailed your question to city administrator Bryan Read at bread@cityofbrandon.org. I will post any reply I receive from him.

  3. Alica Says:

    Here is Bryan Read’s reply:

“It was not the final report. There will not be a written report until after the end of the golf season. This was just updating the Council as to what the consultant has been doing and any preliminary findings. When the final report is completed it will be available to the public just like all other public records.”

I’d also like to mention that if the report was presented at a regular city council meeting, you can watch the meeting and hear the report on the local cable TV channel.

I miss the crafts! Sorry, but the warehouse doesn’t make up for it.

    What Crafts?

    What Warehouse?

  8. Bree Says:

they use to have a craft show at McHardy park, it wasn’t huge but usually a lot of good stuff. The Warehouse in Brandon is up by the interstate, people rent booths there and sell stuff-you should check it out!

Let’s hope it doesn’t get rained out.

We attended and were disappointed. They needed to announce that if you were over the age of 5 there would be absolutely nothing for you to do. Definitely set up for families with very young children, which is nice, but should have been advertised as such.

  12. Thank you Says:

Thanks to the Brandon Edge and all involved! Our family had a great time. Pedal pull, jump houses, photo booth, movie, visiting with friends, etc. were all fun and enjoyed by kids of all ages. Thank you to all sponsors to make this a free event too - very generous!
