Is your water payment past due?

The city council is considering cracking down on residents who don’t pay their water bill on time.
Under the proposed change, customers would have a shorter amount of time before their account became delinquent.
But to make it easier for customers to know when they are delinquent, the city would send out color-coded bills. Late notices would be yellow, and shut-off notices would be red.
If you always pay your bill on time, you don’t have to worry about any of this. But if you are sometimes late, do you think the proposed changes would help? Are there any other ways the city could compell people to pay their water bill on time?

My bills are never late. It is called “automatic payment”. It is a win-win for both sides, I don’t have to remember anything and the city gets their money without hassles.
I really don’t know if the proposed changes will help - I hope so. I am thinking most people can afford their bill, they just forget to pay it.
I don’t know how realistic this is, but could the city offer a “one time” incentive to get people to sign up for automatic payment? Maybe 10% off their bill or $10 in Brandon bucks??…
PS. Just a related thought for the city. Is there be way to NOT enclose a return envelope in my monthly statement? Since I am on auto pay I just throw it away. Could save a few $$$ here. The city could also consider offerring a billing option for every 3 months for those on auto pay. Then a statement would only need to be mailed every 3 months. Also saving some $$$. Could be a billing nightmare, I don’t know.

I agree with less paper used, we used to pay the bill every three months, why not email the bill to all those on auto pay. just an idea
