A group of Brandon people are taking a bus to Pierre Wednesday, Jan. 30, to observe the Legislature in session. The trip is sponsored by the Brandon Valley Area Chamber of Commerce. I will be among those going, and I will be live blogging that day.
Are there any topics you want me to watch for or mention on the blog that day? Any questions you want me to make sure to ask? Anything at all you want me to comment on that day? Post on the blog or e-mail me at apthiele@argusleader.com.
There still may be spots available on the bus, if you wish to join us. Call the Chamber at 582-7400 to learn more. I know we’ll be leaving at 6 a.m. and returning home about 9 a.m. that day.

Yes — ask them if they are really serious about the 17% ($1,000) legislative pay increase that has been proposed, and why they feel that is deserved. I don’t know of any state employees or plain citizens that are getting that hefty of an increase.

Yes! Ask them how they can consider a gas tax hike, when they just voted to kill a bill that would eliminate the ethanol subsidy. That bill alone would have put an estimated 14 million into the gen fund for highways!

How about help for teachers again. I know this is always a hot topic and not everyone agrees but seriously take a step back and look at the facts.

will the next abortion ban vote be the last? Do they keep changing the wording hoping to pass the bill, or is it merely a way to bring advertising dollars to SD?
