Lynx football

November 7th, 2013 by Alica

Brandon Valley travels to Roosevelt on Friday to see which of them will play in the season championships. If Brandon Valley wins, the Lynx will take on another Sioux Falls school in the championships in the DakotaDome.

What do you think are the Lynx’ chances of taking the state football championship this year? What aspects are in their favor? What might hold them back?

How about a story about the plan to lease the golf course to T. Walsh? How does that figure in to the plans of the city?

  2. always listening Says:

It probably would not fit in to the plan of the city. You see, there are a few at the golf course that would get pay cuts or be leaving, and worst of all the city would make some money!!!!!!!!!

Give us some numbers #2. Sounds like you have inside info.

Leasing or selling the golf course to Mr. Walsh would be a good plan. He would do great things with it and possibly turn it into a profit center.

#2 and #4. I am all for it if it is in the best interest of the City of brandon. Please show me in numbers how it is beneficial for the city.

Still waiting for numbers in how it will benefit the City of Brandon?

I know what #2 is talking about.

I have been told there are a few individuals at the golf course that get paid a salary plus proceeds. The proceeds are like one individual gets all the money from cart rentals and another gets all the money from the driving range.Add that revenue to ones salary and some are making well over 100K. They would more than likely be leaving as Mr. Walsh would be in inclined to add those proceeds to the bottom line profit.

Plus why does the course need a pro golfer. If I wanted to get lessons I am sure there are numerous individuals in the Sioux Falls area that I could get them. Seems we just need a good manager???!!!

To Anonymous: You are sure caught up in getting the “numbers”. All one needs to do is look at the current numbers that the golf course is producing and realize what they are doing is not working. Mr. Walsh is a very successful businessman and has a proven track record of running profitable businesses. He is also a very honest and all around good guy.

I highly doubt the pro at the golf course is making 6 digits. Thats $5,000 more than the city administrator makes. Funny.

RE #8. Tom Walsh is a very shrewd business man and he is looking to fleece the city of Brandon on this deal by taking advantage of a nervous public over continued reporting about the golf losing money (which isn’t the entire picture). Anybody that understands the present value of future cash flows as well as measuring current assets (clubhouse, land, equipment) would tell you this is one of the most lopsided offers ever presented. I assure you if the city is really looking to sell the golf course they could open up the bidding and receive dozens of offers better than this.

Yeah, so how about those Lynx? Nice Hijack, golf haters :)
