Pace Manufacturing

What do you think of Pace Manufacturing’s plan to build a production facility in the industrial park on Redwood Boulevard? The company plans to keep running its plant at the corner of South Sioux and Aspen boulevards. That plant, on five acres, was built before all the residential housing sprang up around it.
And if the company ever closes the original plant, what do you think should become of that facility?

Does the zoning have to stay I-1? (I think I read the zoning map correctly). That seems to limit what can go in there, unless anything that can go in a B-3 can also go into an I-1.

The zoning does not have to stay the same. It can change.

Can the building be converted to a community center, and the land be a park? Like a big pavillion…similar to the city park in Spearfish, SD

I suppose anything’s possible. Would Pace get fair compensation for the land if it were to be used the way you describe?

I can’t believe you are all supportive of this company trying to expand and make more money and bring more jobs to Brandon. I for one would like to see this community go back to the size it was 30 years ago and get rid of all of the businesses. I am starting a new campaign right now, BBB, Bring Brandon Back. I want the old Brandon, I fear change. Just kidding but that is how most of these posts go. We are a changing community and I am happy that Pace wants to expand and not leave this town. Growing is part of the circle of life whether we like it or not. Build a park on this side of town so our kids have a place to go. Do whatever you want with the land, this is a town that is growing. Please just realize that it isn’t 1965 anymore and we don’t have gravel roads running through town.

I would hope the city could entice another manufacturer to move to town, if infact that building becomes available. But, I dont think Pace has any intentions of closing this plant anytime soon.

That is my understanding also.

A park? why doesn’t any one in this community want a nice Swimming pool? out of all the young famlys why doesn’t’ this city get a nice big pool so people don’t have to drive to Sioux falls. they want us to buy Brandon.
Then Get things in Brandon for young families to do.
if the city council would have wanted to expand years ago we would have Thunder road in the aspen park. but the council would not let them build it there. Harold

A public park would be nice, but that’s a pretty hefty chunk of commercial real estate to take off the tax rolls and turn it into tax-exempt.

I have to agree with you there, #12.

Pace has owned that property for some years now. I would guess they can do with it what they want.
