Paying online

February 6th, 2008 by Alica

My husband pays many of our utilities online. Since he pays the bills, that’s fine with me. But if it were my job, I probably would still write out a check and put it in the mail, or drop it off in person. There’s just something about going through the motions that makes me feel like I’ve accomplished something.

I will say, though, that paying online is real convenient, and it saves the price of a check, envelope and stamp.

How about you? Do you pay your utility bills online? How about credit card bills? Do you do your banking online? Would you pay for more things online if they were available?

What do you think of transferring money online in general?

I pay everything via my banks online bill pay.(First National in Brandon) It rocks.

I do all my banking online. I do a little shopping online for things I can’t get local. As an example…. For a special treat/gift I ordered HoneyBell oranges from Cushmans Orchard in Florida. These are only available in January every year. They send them with a bib! (they’re fantastic)

I also recently ordered a used book from amazon.com. Cost me $8.00 instead of 35.00. It wasn’t available at Barnes and Noble.

I do the same.. I pay all my bills online thru the bank, if the place doesn’t accept online payments my bank sends them a check for me… it costs me $4.95 a month but they are all on a schedule so I am never late. and I use quicken and everything is scheduled to debit on there. so I never forget to enter it.

The only problem I have found doing this is the major credit I ended up having with mid american energy. I got to stop paying that for about 5 months. Not that bad of a deal, I stuck the same amount in saving for those 5 months.

Otherwise the only time I have to look at it is if my paychecks come up short or something. Otherwise it is all worry free.

    I recommend it to everyone.

I know Alliance is even offering a $10 credit on their bill if you sign up for their Auto Bank Deduct! I pay all of my bills this way…these days with the price of stamps, why wouldn’t you?
