School planning

The school board formed a Facilities Needs Planning Committee to look at population growth in the Brandon Valley School District. The committee is supposed to do research and come back to the school board in June with recommendations on where new schools should be built, and about when that might happen, and other things of that nature.
Do you think this committee is a good idea? Do you have any predictions as to what their recommendations will be? What things would you like the committee to keep in mind as they put together their recommendations?

I applaud the school board for putting together a committee made up of local citizens. No board (school or otherwise) has all the answers and too often boards are unwilling to admit that. There are a lot of thoughtful, intelligent people in the community and it makes perfect sense to tap into those resources. This gives the community a greater sense of ownership of the schools and gets people involved who may not have otherwise gotten involved. Who knows? Maybe one of them will even run for school board someday!
