Seeking ambulance riders

Have you ridden in a MED-Star ambulance because of a medical emergency? How was your experience? Good, bad, or indifferent? Would you be willing to talk to me a few minutes for a story I am writing for the Brandon Valley Challenger?
Sorry, I can’t use blog posts in the story. Only comments with names.
If you are willing to be in the story, please e-mail me at apthiele@argusleader.com today. I need to finish the story by tonight.
Thank you.

This is alittle off of topic, but with fuel prices the way they are, why does Med-Star take 2-3 rigs on each call? I don’t think that it is called for to have 4-6 medics and then the Brandon Fire Dept respond to each call. Rural Metro handled a call with 2 medics and the assistance of Brandon Fire.
One more thing, MED-STAR PLEASE SLOW DOWN GOING TO CALLS!!! I can not beleive the police allow Med-Star to drive the way they do to calls!

I hope you’re dying for help someday and want Med-Star to SLOW DOWN!!

Ambulances should only be running 10mph over the speed limit.
Why do they take our volunteer firefighters too? Towns this size have enough trouble covering day call, what happens when we get another call and they’re all in Sioux Falls?
I hope our fire chief thinks about that.
I say let them run all the fuel they want, and when they come to the city begging for money they can say no. Oh wait…the city is already paying more that the citizens were told.
We’re also paying for an out of town chiropractor to do our quality control. (who makes his living as an EMS speaker) Oh he was a paramedic too, but we had a medical doctor, physicians assistant and nurse for FREE. They quit because of liability, but Mr. Jacobus got a clause holding him not liable. How does that work?
AND we’re paying for all of Medstars training. We didn’t pay for Rural Metro’s training.

Cindy…
I dont think that is necessary to drive mach-10 through the city streets of Brandon, then again, maybe they are trying to cause another medical emergency since their call volume is low!
I think Med-Star is slowly going to fall apart, since his backing in city hall is gone!! There is no reason for the people of Brandon to be shelling out money to Med-Star when we used to get Medical Service for free.
