Snow, go away

December 9th, 2009 by Alica

Did you have any trouble in the snow yesterday or today? Have to cancel any trips? Slide off the road?

Last night I had to brake hard a couple of times, so today the knee I recently had surgery on is hurting. I should have carpooled with my husband yesterday. Then I wouldn’t have had to drive myself.

Only problem I had was the cheese head neighbors that should have had their cars towed. As a result of their incompetence I had way more snow at the end of the driveway than in previous years after the plows went by, when they actually moved their car off the road. Brandon should make it a mandatory tow when snow alerts and plowing times are posted on local channels.

I don’t know what the city laws are about towing or ticketing cars that are on the street during snow. The ordinance that deals with snow removal can be found on the city’s Web site, www.brandonsd.com.

Also, whenever you have a complaint like the one you describe, you might consider calling the Brandon Police Department at 582-6125.

Why can’t the street department start plowing out the town earlier than 6 am? Most of the smaller towns around the area start at 2 am. I leave for work by 6 am and many of times have finished cleaning up the driveway, just to have the city come around and fill me in. Then I have to again cleanup (if I have time) in my work clothes if I have time. I’m not as young any more, and it takes alot more energy to the same work twice as much.

to # 3 city plows start at 4 am on the main roads
