Snowed in

March 2nd, 2007 by Alica

Mike Kerkvliet, pictured, blows snow from his driveway on Maureen Street. He stayed home today from his job in Brookings. So did other Brandon residents, who also were snowed in today.

The old saying “March comes in like a lion,” sure is true this year. Let’s hope it goes out like a lamb.

Are you snowed in today? If so, can you do some of your work from home? How will you spend your impromptu day off?

I was snowed in. Hip-deep snowed in, as a matter of fact. Thankfully I found a guy with a little loader who was willing, for $20, to un-snow me. And as grateful as I was to be able to finally go get a Diet Coke, I paid him $40.

I personally didn’t work from home, but a large number of the people who work there did. I spent two days in lounge wear, wrapped up in a blanket before the TV. And I got really tired of eating Cherrios (until the milk ran out).

Still, this didn’t seem like as bad a blizzard as I remember having when we were kids…

I brought my laptop computer home from work on Thursday and worked from home. It is slower working through a phone jack instead of the company network connection but it’s better than having to take a day of vacation.
