Summer vacation

June 2nd, 2008 by Alica

For months, my friend and I have been planning to go to a theater festival in Winnipeg this summer. But now, with gas prices nearing $4 a gallon, we’re seriously reconsidering. We’re checking the community event schedule in Omaha, for example.

What are your summer vacation plans? Will you stick close to home? Have gas prices altered your vacation plans in any way?

Our family isn’t altering our plans to travel. We have several trips planned - some close and some far. We will however, travel a bit differently. Possible pack foods to take along versus eating out all meals. Also, looks for more free or low cost activites (hiking, biking, etc.).

We estimate for all of our trips the fuel will cost us an extra $500. We will just have to watch other expenses.

We have decided that it is more important to take the trips as we only have our kids around for so long before they head off on their own in the world. We want to have positve vacation memories with them! Thank goodness we enjoy spending time together!
