Summer worship

During the school year, I teach a youth drama class at my church. During the summer, the class takes a break. I have to admit, I often take a break from attending church during the summer too. The spirit is willing, but the flesh often likes to sleep in.
Do you attend church as much during the summer as you do during the school year? Why or why not?
Over the years, my work has taken me to a lot of different towns. Any time I was in a town for a length of time (I worked in Parkston for a month once, for example), I stopped in to the town’s churches to see what they were like. I have a friend who attends church every Sunday no matter what town he’s in.
Do you visit other churches when you’re out of town? Why or why not?

Atilla, I’m saying a prayer for you. You don’t have to believe in Jesus for him to believe in you. You were made (or evolved, if you’d prefer to think that) with the free will to either accept or reject his gift. You might think Christianity is pie-in-the-sky baloney; but an awful lot of pretty smart people who have researched the alternatives and then taken the “leap of faith” have found peace both in this life and in our expectation that after we die we aren’t just bugs on the windshield.

I attend church year-round, because I have found that it (and the message) most often is the most stable thing in my life…

To #2 and #3: What version of the Bible do you prefer? I want to get a new one and am trying to decide what translation/version to get. Ideally, I’d like a small-sized one for easy transport. I know I would not like a King James version, but something newer.
Any suggestions?

I’d just like to clarify I don’t think the general idea of church is bad in itself, because I think it’s just like what #3 said, it helps people with personal issues. I just have a problem with the religion(s) itself.

When I bought a new Bible at Crossroads many years ago, the salesperson there said to look at your favorite or common verse in the different versions. For example, I looked at Psalm 23, then chose which one I liked better.

I like the NIV best, but agree with Songbird’s method.
