United Way

We just had our United Way rally here at the Argus Leader. Do you contribute to the United Way? If so, why? If not, why not?
Have you ever been the recipient of services the United Way sponsors?

I contribute, partly because it’s a well-run organization that makes good use of pooled contributions and partly because of urging from my employer. I also know from having been on a United Way Board that they are very diligent to support worthy and solid causes, as chosen by a citizen board.

i do not contribute to the united way.i have a problem with a non profit organization that pays its head honcho over 600 thousand a year..doesnt seem to be justified to me when most of the united way workers are volunteer.

That’s one of the reasons I contribute to the United Way in one lump sum, which allows me to make the check out to the United Way affiliate of my choice. This year I chose the Salvation Army. As I understand it, 100 percent of my contribution then goes to that organization.
If this is incorrect, someone please let me know.

I do not give to the united Way. I went online to a lot of the charities and when I saw how much money the upper shots get I changed my mind about giving to many charities. I give a lot to the humane societies as I know where that money goes to.
