Water tower for sale

May 12th, 2008 by Alica

Anybody need a water tower? The city has an extra one that’s up for sale.

The city will open bids Thursday for the water tower that’s on the east side of town, near the golf course.

What’s a water tower worth, I wonder? What would someone do with it? What if nobody bids on it? What will the city do with it? Is it worth it to tear down just for the scrap metal?

From the era of “Petticoat Junction”….swimming pool? I do hear architectual elements are hot collectibles!?!?

    Obviously, just kidding.

    Will be interesting to see.

Didn’t they use it for a shower?

Although…it would be cool to have it set up in your yard. I have 4 acres of yard, so maybe I’m looking at it differently…

Maybe if there are no bids, the city can just post a sign on it that says “Free - You Haul.”

    just kidding

Although, I read a book once called “Andersonville,” about a prisoner of war camp in the south during the Civil War. At one point, they had to increase the size of the camp. So they built a wall extending one side of it and planned to remove the old wall. Well, right before the old wall was supposed to come down, the prisoners took the wall down themselves during the night, splinter by splinter, with their bare hands.
