What’s in your garden?

Do you have a garden? If so, how is it doing? We haven’t had much rain of late. I remember working in my family’s large garden when I was a kid. We grew rhubarb, peas and radishes to eat fresh, and green beans, tomatoes, cucumbers and onions to preserve and eat throughout the winter. When my kids were young, I continued the tradition, adding bell peppers to the mix.
What do you grow? Do you freeze, can or otherwise preserve the produce you grow?
If you don’t have a garden, are you enjoying fresh produce from the farmers market, or perhaps Cherry Rock Gardens?
Do you have too much of something you’re looking to give away? Or are you looking for something for a special recipe and would be grateful to find someone who grows what you need?

Our garden was small this year because of the cold, wet Spring weather and the fact that we were getting ready for a graduation. We have four tomato plants and one pumpkin vine a pile of grass clippings, some sticks, a few thousand bugs and our neighbor’s cat. We never seem to be at a loss for fresh produce, especially cucumbers and zucchini. It’s wonderful living in a town like Brandon where neighbors are always willing to share, and brag about, the fruits of their labor.

My garden is Cherry Rock Gardens. Their vegetables are the best. I have had gardens over the years and really enjoy home grown, but the choices are better at Cherry Rock.

Zucchini, cucumbers, onions, radishes went well this year. Tomotoes & peppers did not do well, which is highly unusual for my garden.

Holy cow, I’ve got tomatoes coming out my ears. And HUGE ones. I chose an Heirloom variety this year and their as big as gourds. I’ve canned sauce, salsa and trying my hand at home canned spaghetti sauce. I hate to see them go to waste. Green peppers also did well as did the onions.
